Being you, is important to us

There’s lots of talk about Inclusion and Diversity. Of course there is, it’s an important part of the world we live in. Here at Mars, we just want you to 'be you'. And it’s our responsibility to nurture an environment where you can speak up, share different ideas and respect each other’s point of view. That way, you’ll feel happy and confident to reach your true potential – and our business will be stronger for it.

Hear to be Heard

Working towards a world where society is inclusive, the #HereToBeHeard campaign is an opportunity for women in India to have their voices, opinions and ideas heard and put into action.
The Associate and consumer facing creative campaign #HearToBeHeard is asking women at all intersections of society, a single question - What needs to change so more women can reach their full potential?"

In 2021, Mars asked 10,000 women in 88 countries across intersections – race, age, sexuality, employment status, specially abled and more – one question: What needs to change so that more women can reach their full potential? We are waiting to hear from you! Participate today. The findings will be published in globally in October in a comprehensive report.

“Sustained change requires sustained action. Action requires education, allyship, analysis of our processes and procedures and a commitment to deconstructing and adjusting our systems, where needed. And the time for action is now.”

Our global Inclusion & Diversity Goals

While inclusion & diversity (I&D) has long been a business priority, we knew we could do better. So in 2020, we recognized the need to accelerate our commitment to I&D, both in our workplaces and communities.

We started by listening, asking our Associates and our leaders for their input. Then, we looked deeper, auditing our talent pipelines, policies and procedures, and our I&D strategy, which rests on four pillars:
  1. Ensuring all our leaders are visible and accountable champions of I&D
  2. Embracing a culture of belonging that values and harnesses the power of differences
  3. Harnessing diverse groups of Associates and leaders that represent the diversity of the Mars business
  4. And equipping our business with cohesive policies, processes, practices and training – including unconscious bias programs – that support our I&D aspirations

These pillars have led to three key goals that will help us to deliver our I&D ambitions:

Inclusion
We want to achieve an 80th percentile ranking as measured by the Mars Associate Survey (MAS), which also serves as our internal inclusion barometer by tracking Associate sentiment on this statement: ‘My company treasures diverse opinions and ideas.’
From a sales newbie to strong leader “The best part about working with Mars is that we are encouraged to believe in ourselves, to keep building our capabilities along with that of the team and most importantly to have a holistic approach towards personal and professional wellbeing. In the last four incredible years here, I have transitioned from a sales newbie into a strong leader. I humbly and wholeheartedly thank my organization for entrusting me with this great challenge" Yashi Singh, Regional Sales Manager - West

"There is no difference in gender while doing Sales" “There is nothing that differentiates men from women when it comes to a career in Sales. I enjoy my job to the hilt and the kind of support and flexibility that the organisation provides me with, enables me to maintain a healthy balance between my work and personal life."
