Our Associates have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the world with programs like our Mars Volunteer Program and Mars Ambassador Program. This is a great example of how we put The Five Principles in action today to help create the world we want tomorrow.

Mars Volunteer Program
As a Mars Associate, you can make a positive impact on the world through the Mars Volunteer Program (MVP).
The MVP is a powerful example of how we put The Five Principles into action in the communities that are at the heart of our business, our sourcing and operating communities. This worldwide initiative unleashes the positive power of our greatest assets: our Associates. In 2017, more than 23,000 Associates from 282 sites volunteered over 100,000 hours. Some 130,000 people and more than 100,000 pets globally were positively impacted.
Cooking a feast on a budget for people in need, traveling 800km to provide much-needed maintenance at a rescue shelter, packing 1,200 food boxes at the Egyptian Food Bank are just some examples of the successful initiatives taken by our Associates.
In 2021, Associates got together (in-person & virtually) for the Ramadan Mars Volunteer Program. Our Associates in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates partnered with the Saudi Food Bank and Companies For Good respectively, preparing food boxes for communities.
102 volunteers supported 3500+ individuals across various communities in the region, by preparing a total of 1095 food boxes! This was a truly wonderful experience for all our Associates, who made many happy memories by participating in the Ramadan Mars Volunteer Program.
In Egypt, our Associates had a virtual Ramadan Mars Volunteer Program session, as they partnered with Wellspring and the Egypt Food Bank.
In South Africa, this included visits and volunteering activity at the Mandela Old Age Home and the Tygerberg's children's hospital by our associates.

Mars Ambassador Program
The Mars Ambassador Program (MAP) is an opportunity for eligible Associates to develop their skills and capabilities while building great partnerships worldwide.
MAP offers Associates a chance to use their expertise to help organisations and communities across our value chain. From creating a better world for pets in Puerto Rico and improving the sustainability of tea factories in Kenya to optimising the value chain of meal supplies from a centralised kitchen in India - our Associates have been involved in projects all over the world.
In 2018, more than 600 Associates from 50 countries volunteered across all business segments. This amounts to more than 41,000 hours spent supporting organisations and communities across our value chain.
Participating in MAP is a life-changing experience that not only connects Associates with communities but also empowers them to learn about the issues we face as a business as they develop leadership competencies in real-life situations.

Rewarding Good Work
When our Associates generate positive change at Mars and in our communities, we take notice. And we make sure our appreciation is shown through the Mars Make the Difference Awards. The global award ceremony takes place every alternate year to celebrate Associates who put The Five Principles into action and bring innovative thinking, fresh perspectives and personal commitment to improving our communities, environment, workplaces and business. These awards recognise the best of the best and help us share best practices across the organisation. When we come together to recognise success today, we have a greater impact on the lives and communities we’ll touch tomorrow.
