“A project that I am particularly proud of was on the impact of wet food temperature for senior cats. It is well-known that cats are fussy eaters, and this can become even more challenging as they get older. Our work showed that senior cats prefer their food warm, which can be used as an easy way to encourage them to eat. We published a paper on our findings in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior to share the knowledge more broadly.”

“The most fulfilling part of the work that I do is getting to support the wider pet care business with product performance testing. Using my expertise in this area to problem solve and provide recommendations to advise teams across the world on what the best approach is to answer the questions they have as part of their projects and partnering with them to interpret the outcomes and next steps. I enjoy being able to problem solve and support the teams as they develop their products whilst it also pushes me to expand my knowledge of the area and the business. It certainly means that no two days are the same!”

“The Mars Petcare biobank is one example where we have a truly unique opportunity to follow owned pets over a 10 year period, collect samples and data, which our teams analyse to understand ageing and disease and then develop new treatments and technologies.
